James “Dukes” Donaldson Launches Campaign to Unite Seattle as Our Next Mayor
Former Seattle SuperSonic, small businessman and community leader James Donaldson announced today he will run for Mayor to unite the city and reform city government, pledging compassion, innovation and a commitment to problem solving in his administration.
(Seattle, WA) Standing 7’ 2” and with the iconic Seattle Spaceneedle in the background, former SuperSonic center James “Dukes” Donaldson announced his campaign for Mayor, saying, “Three values have made Seattle a world leader: compassion, innovation and problem solving. Our city is at its best when we remember the values that unite us.”
Donaldson continued, “We all know that the city faces three big challenges. Homelessness, a loss of trust in law enforcement, and need to ‘build back better’ as we return to normal after COVID. Each of these challenges must be met with compassion, innovation, and problem solving.”
“Any mayor would be an all-star for taking the ball on just one of the city’s big challenges, but our next mayor needs to tackle all three.” said Victoria Beach, Chair of the African American Community Advisory Council for SPD
Donaldson spent a career playing basketball for Seattle and teams across the country and world. After he retired from the sport, he returned to Seattle and started a sports fitness business and launched a non-profit to help those suffering from mental health challenges and addictions.
Beach concluded “James Donaldson shares our community’s values. James Donaldson can unite our city”
